NFWC Purpose and Plan Layout

We feel that God, in His Word the Bible, is laying out a clear plan and purpose for our lives. The following is what we believe God is calling us to as a church and people.

Vision/Purpose/Core Values

Vision Statement

"To present the gospel to as many as possible"

Purpose Statement

"Reaching out to the un-churched to make fully committed followers of Jesus Christ"

Core Values

Community, Discipleship, Worship, Ministry, Evangelism.

We want to see everyone come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ, then realize that God has a plan for our lives, and to discover and grow in that plan.
Life is all about relationships. First our relationship with God, and then our relationships with others. In community groups we build relationships. Through those we will be drawn closer to God and find the love and support we need.

Jesus told us to go and make disciples. As we have studied the New Testament and observed the first century church, discipleship is accomplished in community. Community can be at church, in homes, during the ball game, while fishing, wherever we might be walking out life.

Hab 2:2 says to, “write the vision down, and make it plain so that the reader may run with it…”

It is our goal to make our vision, purpose and core values as clear as possible and as easy as possible to follow. We believe that God has a plan for every person. Plans that include our skills, talents and passions for His kingdom. Please take your time as you read through this and pray that God would show you what part He would have you play.

What is Community?

Purpose

"doing life deeply with one another as we serve together"

Community groups are all about investing in relationships. It is in these relationships that we can grow as believers. Groups take on all kinds of shapes and sizes. This core value involves activities such as:  Small groups, table groups, greeters, ushers, care team, information center, special interest/hobby groups, sports ministry, corporate worship, pastoral care, hospital visitation, funerals, weddings, retreats, outings, church picnics/fellowships, etc. Vision: "to see 100% participation in community" (Matt. 28:19)
What is Discipleship?

Purpose

"building fully committed followers of Jesus Christ"

Discipleship is every believer growing in their knowledge and understanding of God. Following the Biblical pattern, Jesus would use every day life examples to disciple His followers. This core value involves activities such as: water baptism, bible studies, discovering your gifts class, community groups, Sunday School classes, women’s, men’s, and youth retreats, camps, missions trips, preaching, teaching and leadership training, etc. Vision: "every believer growing in the knowledge of the word and obedience to the Spirit of God" (Matt. 28:20)
What is Worship?

Purpose

"to draw people into a passionate walk with Jesus Christ"

Worship is much more than singing a song. Our whole life is worship to God. Included would be, our daily time with God in reading His word and prayer, giving of our time and talents, and in song and praise. It comes down to daily, putting God first in everything we do. This core value involves activities such as: daily life of holiness and worship, personal devotions, music worship team, Sunday services, Wednesday night prayer meetings, 31 Days of Prayer and Fasting, Tithes and Offerings, etc. Vision: "every believer coming into a passionate daily walk with Jesus" (Matt. 22:37-38)
What is Ministry?

Purpose

"people using their time, talents, and abilities for advancing the gospel"

God has called every follower of Jesus to full time ministry. This is us using our time, talents, and abilities for God. Sometimes it is simply applying your passions and giftings in serving. This core value involves activities such as:  ushers, greeters, care team, information center, music, singing, teaching, serving, food bank (Freedom Resource Center), missions trips, missions committee, wheelchair ministry, bus/van drivers, nursing homes, hospital visitation, shut-ins, prison ministry, building projects, media ministry, church library, etc. Vision: "every believer discovering and pursuing God's purpose for their life" (Matt. 22:39-40)
What is Evangelism?

Purpose

"reaching out with the gospel to the un-churched"

Jesus said, "Go and make disciples." Every believer is commanded to "go." Our mission as believers is to present the gospel to as many as possible and to bring them into the community of God. This core value involves activities such as:  personal evangelism, world missions, big days, illustrated sermons, Adopt-A-Block, nursing homes, prison ministry, food bank (FRC), Master Mender, kids Christmas production, bus/van ministry, media ministry, website, etc. Vision

"every believer has taken personal ownership of evangelism" (Matt. 28:19)

What does it all mean?

It is our desire is to see this graphic fulfilled. As we invest in relationships, bringing people into community we will see them grow in God, worship God, find a place that fulfills their purpose, and then bring others into community with us and God.
